Great xmas present for those who eat a lot of rice
Bought for parents who eat a lot of rice for an xmas present. They have another zojirushi non-pressure NP-HBC10 that I gave them a couple years ago as an xmas present. It still works great, nothing has needed to be replaced and has been one of the best presents they have ever received (their words, not mine) because it is so easy to make rice-just put in rice and water and hit the buttons and out comes perfect rice. They recently bought a 2nd home in a sunny place so the old one will go there. This one is the cream of the crop for rice cookers, and the price shows it. I'm not sure if it is all that much better than the older non-pressure model, but it has some new features and for an xmas present I think was worth it. Would I buy it for myself considering it is more than double the price of the NP-HBC10 model-probably not. But I really recommend this line of cookers for anyone who eats a lot of rice, they work very well, are easy to use, and are dependably durable.

Excellent Product for the Sous Vide Chef
This cooker has a hefty price tag, but if you're serious about sous vide cooking it is difficult to beat in terms of quality and function. It performs exactly as advertised - within one tenth of a degree - for absolute control of the temperature. It's easy to program and looks/feels like a professional tool. As noted by other reviewers, it does take a bit of time to come to cooking temperature. I resolved that by purchasing two different sizes of cooking vessels (polycarbonate) with plastic tops. I measured and cut an opening in the plastic top for the PolyScience cooker so that it was as tight as possible, but with room to vent steam. I wrapped the vessel in plastic bubble wrap which dramatically decreased the time for the water to come to temperature. Actually, anything will work (towels, cardboard, etc) for insulation, but the bubble wrap seemed to work best. The veggies are terrific - the poached eggs never came out "perfect" unless you did something else like boil them...

Best Rice Cooker Ever...
I was skeptical that this rice cooker could be any better than the conventional rice cooker. Was I ever wrong. We have cooked brown rice in our conventional rice cooker and it would alway turn out dry and has a nutty texture. This made it hard to swallow. The new Zojirushi NP-NVC18 cooked the brown rice flawlessly. The rice was fluffy and soft and easy to swallow. I know the price is steep but the quality of the machine and the quality of perfect rice that it produces was worth the investment. Great xmas present for those who eat a lot of rice
Bought for parents who eat a lot of rice for an xmas present. They have another zojirushi non-pressure NP-HBC10 that I gave them a couple years ago as an xmas present. It still works great, nothing has needed to be replaced and has been one of the best presents they have ever received (their words, not mine) because it is so easy to make rice-just put in rice and water and hit the buttons and out comes perfect rice. They recently bought a 2nd home in a sunny place so the old one will go there. This one is the cream of the crop for rice cookers, and the price shows it. I'm not sure if it is all that much better than the older non-pressure model, but it has some new features and for an xmas present I think was worth it. Would I buy it for myself considering it is more than double the price of the NP-HBC10 model-probably not. But I really recommend this line of cookers for anyone who eats a lot of rice, they work very well, are easy to use, and are dependably durable.

Excellent Product for the Sous Vide Chef
This cooker has a hefty price tag, but if you're serious about sous vide cooking it is difficult to beat in terms of quality and function. It performs exactly as advertised - within one tenth of a degree - for absolute control of the temperature. It's easy to program and looks/feels like a professional tool. As noted by other reviewers, it does take a bit of time to come to cooking temperature. I resolved that by purchasing two different sizes of cooking vessels (polycarbonate) with plastic tops. I measured and cut an opening in the plastic top for the PolyScience cooker so that it was as tight as possible, but with room to vent steam. I wrapped the vessel in plastic bubble wrap which dramatically decreased the time for the water to come to temperature. Actually, anything will work (towels, cardboard, etc) for insulation, but the bubble wrap seemed to work best. The veggies are terrific - the poached eggs never came out "perfect" unless you did something else like boil them...
