My last ac unit was a 5000 btu daewoo - from costco, and it was OK for the 100 dollars I paid.
This unit is a significant improvement.
I have the SQ06N10 (in my bedroom), and the SQ10N10 (in my living room). They are quiet. All the metal parts are thicker and feel higher quality than my previous ac unit. They aren't silent, but they are noticeably quieter than my previous ac unit.
At first I missed a step in the installation where you squish a foam gasket (that they provide) between the ac unit and the chassis, and was a little disappointed in the noise level - however, once I properly inserted the foam gasket 2 days later, it was a vast improvement. It says in the manual to be sure you install this gasket. I honestly could not believe the difference a single piece of foam made.
Then a couple days after installing the foam gasket, I noticed a few odd rattling noises, and after careful monitoring, I found the noises weren't the ac unit. They...
